Admissions Policy of Undergraduate, Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering aims to train professionals who can contribute to society, especially in the industrial world, through engineering and research, as reflected in our university’s philosophy of “contributing to the world culture with technology.” Such professionals will have acquired technical knowledge and basic skills in the field of engineering, backed by academic knowledge in the basics of natural science, along with the culture and education necessary to work as an engineer. They will need to have acquired the ability to utilize their skills and technical knowledge in order to solve problems from an engineering perspective, and also have a positive attitude about continuing their studies on their own in the future. In addition, they must have communication and presentation skills in order to explain their thought and evaluation processes, and the ability to create cooperative relationships with others and to accurately carry out collaborative projects while working in groups. We will support students to achieve these goals and send the talented people who have ethical outlook appropriate for engineering specialists and a strong sense of social responsibility out into the society.

The Faculty of Engineering welcomes applicants with the following characteristics:

  1. Individuals who have acquired basic academic ability in subjects related to science and mathematics.
  2. Individuals with the desire to face the challenges of engineering, a field that is the foundation of Japan’s strength.
  3. Individuals with an interest in product design and development (monozukuri) or in creating systems in the field of engineering.

Admissions Policy of Undergraduate, Faculty of Creative Engineering

The Faculty of Creative Engineering aims to train professionals who can contribute to world culture through city planning, architecture and spatial design, interior design, product design, and other engineering or interdisciplinary fields that require creativity. Such professionals will have acquired basic knowledge, technical skill, and the ability to make proposals in creative engineering, which fuses engineering, planning, and design. They will also have acquired a cultural grounding in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, and an ability to consider how to combine the cultural dimensions with their skills and knowledge in creative engineering. In order to acquire additional basic specialist knowledge and skills needed to solve future problems, they must develop the habit of continually learning on their own. We also emphasize the need to have presentation skills in order to logically explain thought and evaluation processes, the ability to creatively utilize skills on the global scene, and the ability to communicate effectively in order to create cooperative relationships and accurately carry out collaborative projects. We will support students to archive these goals and send the talented people who have ethical outlook appropriate for engineering specialists and a strong sense of social responsibility out into the society.

The Faculty of Creative Engineering welcomes applicants with the following characteristics:

  1. Individuals who have acquired basic academic ability in subjects related to science and mathematics.
  2. Individuals with an interest in the field of creative engineering that fuses engineering, planning, and design.
  3. Individuals who want to have a creative proposal for manufacturing (monozukuri), systems, spatial design, or city planning.

Admissions Policy of Undergraduate, Faculty of Advanced Engineering

The Faculty of Advanced Engineering aims to train professionals who can make society and our lives more convenient through breakthroughs in the field of advanced engineering, as reflected in the university’s founding spirit of “contributing to the world culture with technology.” Such professionals will have acquired basic knowledge and skills in the field of engineering, and the ability to apply both in advanced and interdisciplinary fields. They will also have acquired a positive attitude about continually and systematically learning on their own, so that they can acquire the specialist knowledge and skills needed to solve future problems. In addition, they must have flexible outlooks that are responsive to future changes, such as technological advancements and globalization, and the ability to devise solutions by applying their comprehensive knowledge and skills. They also must acquire presentation skills in order to logically explain their thought and evaluation processes, the ability to communicate with others, and the ability to display leadership and teamwork skills in carrying out collaborative projects while working in groups. We will support students to archive these goals and send the talented people who have ethical outlook appropriate for engineering specialists and a strong sense of social responsibility out into the society.

The Faculty of Advanced Engineering welcomes applicants with the following characteristics:

  1. Individuals who have acquired basic academic ability in subjects related to science and mathematics.
  2. Individuals who have the desire and motivation to learn about advanced and interdisciplinary fields of engineering.
  3. Individuals who have an especially strong interest in life science, robotics, or advanced media.

Admissions Policy of Undergraduate, Faculty of Information and Computer Science

The Faculty of Information and Computer Science aims to train professionals who can contribute to society through work on information systems, computer networks, media processing, and in various fields of information processing, as reflected in the university’s founding spirit of “contributing to the world culture with technology.” Such professionals will have acquired basic knowledge and skills in the field of information and computer science, and the ability to apply their expertise based on sound theories to a variety of challenges in the real world. Along with the progress of globalization with high-level information processing technologies, they will be expected to have a positive attitude about continually and systematically learning of specialist knowledge and skills, and to have the ability to find solutions to new problems on their own. In addition, they must have communication and presentation skills in order to explain their thought and evaluation processes, and the ability to create cooperative relationships with others and to accurately carry out collaborative projects in groups. We will support students to archive these goals and send the talented people who have ethical outlook appropriate for engineering specialists and a strong sense of social responsibility out into the society.

Admissions Policy of Undergraduate, Faculty of Social Systems Science

The Faculty of Social Systems Science aims to bring up professionals who can contribute to the advancement of social life and culture through activities in systems science, management engineering, social science, information engineering, and other interdisciplinary academic fields, as reflected in the university’s founding spirit of “contributing to the world culture with technology.” Such professionals will have acquired the basic knowledge required to analyze, evaluate, and manage subjects in social systems and management issues. They also need the ability to solve problems by comprehensively applying their skills and specialist knowledge, and effectively utilizing human resources, material resources, financial resources (i.e. capital), and technical information resources. In addition, they also need to have a positive attitude about continually learning on their own, so that they can acquire the specialist knowledge and skills required to solve future problems. They must have communication and presentation skills in order to explain their decision-making processes by collecting and utilizing technical information in Japan and overseas, and the ability to create cooperative relationships by carrying out collaborative projects through group works. We will support students to archive these goals and bring up students to have high ethical standards appropriate for engineering specialists and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The Faculty of Social Systems Science welcomes applicants with the following characteristics:

  1. Individuals who have acquired basic academic abilities in high school and who have a good sense of ethics and an enriched humanity.
  2. Individuals who are interested in social systems for corporate management, organizational management, finance, and economics, and who want to learn scientific techniques to develop their systems.
  3. Individuals with their willingness to contribute to the transformation of social systems from a global perspective.
