Department of Applied Chemistry
Training expert chemists who will confront industrial and social innovation with frontier concepts
Chemistry, in various forms, lies at the root of many technologies. For example, solar batteries and fuel cells only exist as a result of advances in organic chemistry, electrochemistry, and materials chemistry. In a few decades, brand-new technologies will arise, as well as today’s advanced technologies will undergo further evolution and development. Applied chemistry is expected to p lay an important role to make this possible. In the Department of Applied Chemistry, students will acquire knowledge accumulated by the world’s chemists and turn that knowledge into practical ability during repeated experiments. Through their studies, students will become prepared to deal flexibly with any possible change in the future, and will acquire the ability to come up with creative ideas for the next generation of chemical technology.
