Civil and Environmental Engineering

Urban planning actually requires a consideration of a variety of issues: convenience, comfort, strength against disasters, minimizing environmental loads, etc. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers classes on construction materials, structural mechanics, and other subjects related to infrastructure, in addition to a wide range of other topics, including environmental assessment, transportation, sanitary engineering, environmental acoustics, and landscape engineering. Through seminars, students also develop confidence and practical skills in urban planning, landscape design, and completing projects. The curriculum also assists students in acquiring various certifications, such as the Assistant Surveyor certification. In addition, seminars will help students to polish their communication and presentation skills, in order to learn how to gain the understanding of local residents, which is another indispensable skill involved in urban planning.
