Curriculum

The department’fs curriculum comprises four fields of study: finance, information, production and living. Students learn risk management in these fields by studying how to identify and quantitatively evaluate possible risks, and devise and carry out effective countermeasures. Based on a mathematical engineering approach, students acquire the abilities to understand and communicate various problems in society and work out effective solutions in the real world. Based on the fundamental knowledge of risk management approaches common to all of the aforementioned fields, including system thinking, mathematical engineering, information engineering and management engineering approaches, students will acquire specific and practical skills of risk management in each field. Simulation and role-playing methods using data sourced from the real world will enhance the learning experience. This risk analyis practice helps to expand the knowledge acquired through the curriculum. The practicality of the curriculum is reinforced by the work experiences of the department’fs faculty at private companies and in administrative positions.
