Professor Kazuhito Komiya was elected President of Chiba Institute of Technology

The Chiba Institute of Technology is delighted to announce that the faculty meeting and the board of directors have elected Professor Kazuhito Komiya, as New President of The University.
He will take up the post on 29th June 2012 on the retirement of Professor Seiichi Motooka, who had been The President of The University since June 2004.
Kazuhito Komiya read Civil Engineering, Soil Mechanics and Computational Mechanics at Waseda University, Japan and obtained B.Sc. and M.Eng. in 1987 and 1989 respectively, and was awarded Ph.D. in 1994.
In April 1994, he joined The Chiba Institute of Technology and is now teaching and conducting research in the area of Geotechnical Engineering and Environmental Geotechnics.
Between 1998 and 1999, he worked full-time at The University of Cambridge, and during his tenure he made a lot of research achievement on The Brite Euram Project of The European Commission.
He is a Professor of The Chiba Institute of Technology since 2001.
Commenting on his inauguration, he said, 'In a period in which the public interest in creative design has grown significantly in Japan and abroad, I look forward to taking on a role as President of Chiba Institute of Technology, an undergraduate course whose students are studying for having the strength to compete in international contests, and a graduate school whose students and teaching stuffs are doing research in areas of great interest and importance.'
