A new campus of the Chiba Institute of Technology, the Tokyo Skytree Town® Campus, came into being at Tokyo Skytree® which opened on May 22, 2012. It is open to the public as an experiential action zone, applying the leading edge technologies developed through the research activities at CIT. Here, everyone is free to experience the technology of the future.
The first exhibition presents the research findings of CIT’s Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo) and Planetary Exploration Research Center (PERC). Here we are demonstrating a prototype of Rosemary, the successor to the disaster relief robot deployed at the site of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, as well as the latest robot developed by fuRo, a 3D CAD image projection system. There’s also a Mars probe simulator that allows you to experience exploring Mars using photographic data of the ground surface provided by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Other displays present CIT’s science and technology including sensing technology that projects images using paper cards.
The Tokyo Skytree Town Campus is intended to develop continuously in step with the functions and roles required by the times, forming a bridge linking individuals, the university and society at large.
